In an exclusive interview with BBC India, Princess Hend Al Qassimi expressed her thoughts on how she feels betrayed by Indians.

The Princess of the United Arab Emirates, Hend Al Qassimi, has become the woman of the moment by taking on extremist Hindus for their anti-Muslim comments on social media.

Hend Al Qassimi, who is a member of the royal family of Sharjah, warned that anti-Muslim remarks are not welcome in the UAE. She also penned an editorial in a leading Gulf newspaper, criticizing the growing “animosity against Muslims in India.”

In an exclusive interview with BBC India, the Princess expressed her thoughts on how she feels betrayed by Indians.

Al Qassimi said, “How arrogant of you to say that we run and control this county (UAE) when you are an Indian that makes your bread and butter from my land. If you are in my country and you condescend us, do you think we are going to be quiet ? I doubt that.”

The Princess added, “I don’t call them Hindus because I have a lot of Hindu friends who don’t speak like that, well they don’t speak like this in front of me.”

While speaking about the extremism, the member of the royal family said, “Hindus who support terrorist groups against my religion and country are all under the radar now. They will be punished and made to leave the country.”

Betrayed by Family

During the interview, the Princess also spoke about how she feels betrayed by Indians. She said, “Lately, we have been noticing the rise of violence from Hindus, which is not a Hindu trait. I have visited India several times; it’s like vising your grandparents. So, what we are witnessing today is like a betrayal.”

“When I see what’s happening in India selectively against Muslims, it shocks me. It’s almost like your grandparents denying you and killing you.”

Speaking about the new visa policies for Indians, the Princess said, “Everything they (Indians) say, or have said and done in their country will be under inspection because now we know we have another extremist group ‘Hindutva’ to deal with.
